The Deyang Haohua Qingping Linkuang Co invited people living nearby to visit its phosphamidon plant to try to ease their environmental pollution concerns. The plant, which went into operation on March 24, is a key project, but many of the local people were against it, because they believed it would cause industrial pollution. The company did promise to build an environmentally friendly plant during the construction work, and paid particular attention to its residue dump. Also, Deyang and Mianzhu government officials and Deyang company inspectors visited the site several times to deal with problems and to see that it was environmentally friendly. Qingping Linkuang has high environmental standards for the project and said it will build a plant that is a global leader in environmental protection. It also asked local community representatives to visit the construction site to learn about the project’s environmental requirements. After visiting the sites, the local people spoke highly of the plant’s environmental standards.

The residue dump covers 20 hectares of land and the company has spent more than 19 million yuan on measures to control pollution at the phosphogypsum dump. The site has a cover of polyethylene geomembrane and two layers of geotextiles and can effectively stop phosphogypsum from entering the water table. In addition, there are drainage ducts, waste water treatment ponds, waste water treatment plants, and drainage channels in the surrounding areas, which can treat waste water and reuse it for industrial purposes.
