From November 8 to 10, the ancient German city of Cologne convened the Polymer Foam 2016 in the Maritim hotel. Bluestar Silicones International Co., Ltd. (BSI), a subsidiary of Bluestar, attended and gave a speech at the meeting.
The Polymer Foam is an international conference focused on the latest development trend of foam materials and covers areas of construction, decoration, automobile and packaging. As a highly professional industry forum, this year, it gathered business insiders to discuss the application and properties of chemical foaming agents, physical foaming, particle foam handling, and the application of foamed polymer, etc.
Dr. David Mariot, manager for elastomer formula from the BSI French branch, delivered a speech at the meeting, introducing the unique properties and application of the low-density elastomer silicone foam developed by BSI, and showing the research results and market prospects of BSI in polymer foam.
Polymer foam plastics are widely used in food packaging, insulating building materials and home furniture. In recent years, transportation, construction and furniture have become the three biggest consumers of high-density foam plastics, while low-density foam plastics have been mainly used in shock-absorbing, insulating products and rigid packaging. Compared with glass fibers and metal materials, polymer foam plastics are light and cheap. What’s more, their properties of low thermal transmission, insulation and impact resistance are all key to the growing market demand. As an ideal eco-friendly material, its terminal application will be expanded.
